Gorazd Drevenšek
Gorazd Drevenšek is currently the Head of Laboratory for Cardiovascular Research in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ljubljana.
Drevenšek became active in EU politics through cooperation with various organisations. A few months before first EU elections in Slovenia, the Slovenian June list was established, which was later registered as an NGO organisation. In 2006 June list joined the EUD and became the EUDS EUDemocrats Slovenia.
During the late 1990s Drevenšek was active in the establishment of a new political entity in Slovenia. During this time, he was particularly active within a pressure group called Neutro, who were opposed to Slovenia entering the EU and NATO. By 1998 Drevenšek begain to make contact with EU critical movements across Europe.
During studies his was a President of the Student Organisation in the University of Ljubljana, from 1988 until 1990. Drevenšek was deeply involved in movements which were pushing for secession of Slovenia from Yugoslavia, and he was also involved in establishing the first political organisations in Slovenia. Drevenšek was also the editor of his University's student newspaper in the early 1990s.
